Save Money Cleaning: Lemon Microwave Cleaner

Each Thursday I'll be sharing with you a thrifty tip for keeping your home clean and green! To keep your microwave looking and smelling fresh follow this simple recipe!

1.5 Cups Water
3 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
3 Tablespoons baking soda OR
2 cups white vinegar

Combine water, lemon juice, and baking soda (or substitute white vinegar) in a microwave safe bowl (no plastic!). Cook uncovered for 5 minutes. Carefully remove bowl using pot holders, it will be very HOT. Then simply wipe out your microwave using a dish towel! No elbow grease needed, let your microwave do all the work!

Or simplify this even more by just cutting a lemon in half, throw it in a bowl of water and let that cook for 3-5 minutes before wiping out your microwave.

If you plan to follow me in this series you should have almost everything already on hand, here are the basic ingredients if you want to check your supplies.
White Vinegar
Borax
Baking Soda
Rubbing Alcohol
Baby Oil
Spray Bottles
As my household cleaning items run out I'll be saving the bottles and spray triggers, cleaning them out really well, and then reusing them for homemade cleaners.
