Weekend away and my recent addiction. . . .

So I'm sure you've noticed the lack of posts around here lately, I hope to catch up today and tomorrow. We were out of town this last weekend attending and celebrating my brother in law's graduation from Oregon State University! These pictures were taken with a free app called Instagram for the iphone which I'm completely addicted to right now. I'm sure I will be posting more pictures from this program very soon.

Adventures with Amy: Baked Oatmeal

I have been begging my sis to share some of her adventures in the kitchen with us for a while now and it looks like my nephew finally gave her some time to do that! Not only is she an excellent cook but she's great with a camera too. I hope this is the first of many Adventures with Amy :)

Baked Oatmeal from A Taste of Home

Ingredients
3 cups quick-cooking oats
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1/2 cup butter, melted
2 eggs, lightly beaten
Additional milk

Directions

In a large bowl, combine the oats, sugar, baking powder and salt. 

In a small bowl, combine the milk, butter and eggs. Stir into oat mixture until blended.

Spoon into a greased 9-in. square baking pan.

Bake at 350° for 40-45 minutes or until set. Serve warm with milk. Yield: 9 servings.

Toddler Fun: The New Reg Wagon

We ordered the Radio Flyer Wagon I posted about last week, Steve put it together last night and its been a huge hit in this house. All Brooklynn has wanted to do is load it up with toys, climb in, throw everything out and do it again. Easy entertainment, I don't think she wanted her picture taken in this first picture :)

Toddler Fun: Outdoor playtime in Pajamas!

The other night Brooklynn stood at the door in her pajamas begging to go outside. It was a rare moment this spring where it wasn't actually raining so out we went, dogs and all. The purple chair we scored at a garage sale last summer for just $0.50!

Toddler Fun: Furniture Climbing

We've officially entered the climbing stage in this house. I need to figure out some ways to curb Brooklynn's need to climb on things other than furniture. Anyone have any suggestions?

Toddler Fun: Nature Walk

It finally feels like Spring is here! Our morning activity today was a simple nature walk around the house. We took a basket to gather things we found along the way. There was just one mishap on our adventure that was quickly remedied by a shoe change. 

Brooklynn really enjoyed unloading all the treasures once we were back inside. She must have had so much fun that napping is just out of the question today. . . .

Peanut Butter Playdough Recipe with Agave

Looking for something to keep us busy this afternoon I decided to make Peanut Butter Play Dough. There's just no way normal play dough would stay out of Brooklynn's mouth so the edible kind it is.

Here's the recipe I used:

1 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup Agave Syrup (can substitute honey)
2 cups powdered sugar

Mix Ingredients in a bowl, thats it!
Store in an air tight container or ziplock

She really had no interest in doing anything with it other than eat it. 

We'll try it again in a month or so :)

Coastal Getaway Continued!

We visited a very cute little shop in Rockaway Beach, Oregon called The Frugal Crow located next door to this candy/ice-cream shop. The store carries vintage, used, and new home decor items, I highly recommend stopping in to take a peak if your traveling through, the prices are very reasonable compared to other antique shops. We're having a wonderful time, normal posts will resume Tuesday evening. Its a great week at Fred Meyer, I'll have a post up on Wednesday. 

Coastal Getaway!

We're spending a family weekend at the Oregon Coast, posts will be a little slower. Today we had a lovely wind free evening and took advantage it.

February Snow Day!

We got snow here in the Portland area, about 2 inches! My daughter really wants to go outside and I'm thinking how nice it is to look at inside wearing pajamas and drinking tea.
